Guide to: Addressing Wedding Photography Anxiety

I want to reassure you that you're not alone in this sentiment! Feeling uneasy about being photographed is entirely normal, especially considering that most of us aren't accustomed to being in front of a camera, except when with our nearest and dearest.

What I aim to do is provide you with valuable suggestions and strategies so that you can feel at ease and genuinely anticipate and relish the photography experience, rather than approaching it with dread! I hope this guide helps to get rid of some of those nerves you might have about your wedding photography.

  • ADDRESS EVERY POSSIBLE DETAIL WITH ME

The more detailed your responses, the more it helps me tailor the photography to your preferences and expectations.

BOOK A PRE-WEDDING SHOOT

If the thought of being photographed makes you nervous, I recommend considering a pre-wedding photo shoot. This will ensure you feel more at ease, and you get to know me :), break the ice with me, and generally set the stage for a relaxed and enjoyable photography experience on your big day.

For these sessions, I suggest selecting a location that holds significance for both of you or a place you both love to visit, so you feel at ease in familiar surroundings.

We'll chat, while I capture beautiful photographs during the process.

I can assure you that there is really nothing to be anxious about; it is a casual walk with a friend, and you will receive the extra benefit of stunning photos of you both to look back on!

  • CHERISH A MOMENT TOGETHER…

When it is time for your portraits, you'll be away from your guests for about 10 minutes at a familiar spot — no lengthy photo sessions or paparazzi frenzies, I promise! Unless that’s what you are looking for!

Considering the whirlwind that a wedding day often is, 10 minutes away from everyone is a beautiful opportunity for the two of you to pause, catch your breath, and relish a few moments together.

Share a tender kiss, embrace one another, snuggle up close... strike a fun lift or pose, or even have a playful dance together… whatever comes naturally to you! These are things that make the perfect, natural shot.

By this point, we know each other, we’re practically friends and you’re comfortable around me, so just be yourselves, savour the time as newlyweds, and rest assured, we will capture some stunning photos for you to cherish forever!

  • OPT FOR A DOCUMENTARY-STYLE PHOTOGRAPHER

This means selecting a photographer who chronicles your day in a candid manner, capturing the genuine moments as they naturally unfold, rather than orchestrated posed shots.

My approach is centred around capturing genuine moments that authentically reflect your personality and the atmosphere of your wedding day!

What excites me is documenting spontaneous interactions and authentic moments between you, your family, and friends. However, if you are looking to capture posed moments, and formal group shots—I am more than happy to do so.

I am super friendly, respectful, relaxed and if that’s what you want me to be, quite stealthy when it comes to taking photos.

When you receive your gallery you will be able to relive every moment of your wedding day through each of your photographs.

You do not need to worry about the camera because, I like to seamlessly blend into the background anyway!
